Tradition has it that around the turn of the century, a young horse appeared in eastern Kentucky. This was the beginning of a line of horses that have been prized and treasured in that part of the country ever since...(History of the Rocky Mountain Horse)

The goal of our Rocky Mountain Horse farm is to preserve the characteristics of this wonderful, gentle, smooth-gaited breed through limited and selective breeding of exceptional stock to produce top quality Rocky Mountain horses. Training starts with imprinting our foals (click to see all the latest photos) at birth (see a video of the live birth of one of our foals) and continues with natural horsemanship methods of ground training, driving, and under saddle training. Since we have only a few babies each year, we have the luxury of being able to give each of them personal hands-on training over several years. As a result, our horses are experienced trail horses and wonderful companions. All of our horses for sale, including yearlings, were born here at our farm, imprinted at birth, and handled daily until two years of age.

The inherent four beat gait of the Rocky Mountain Horse has made it one of the top choices for a pleasurable trail ride. Once you "Ride the Glide" you will not settle for anything else.

Visit our blog, CGF Rockies, for experiences, insights, and observations about Cedar Grove Farm and our Rocky Mountain Horses.  Also check our Links page for access to Mountain Horse organizations, horse health and foaling resources, trail riding resources, horse genetic testing, general horse information, and some of our mountain horse friends. And on our Horses for Sale page be sure to click on the individual horse images for more photos, slide shows, pedigrees, and videos posted on YouTube.
